RussiaSUNY Global > Office of International Programs > Offices Abroad::Russia OverviewOur main mission in Russia is to work with the major universities in Russian Federation (Russia) to expand and deepen the opportunities in Russia for SUNY students and faculty, and at SUNY for Russian students and faculty. Furthermore, we work with SUNY campuses in the development of exchanges, online collaboration, conferences, and to enable SUNY and Russian scholars to pursue collaborative research and to share the results of their individual and collaborative work in jointly sponsored conferences. The State University of New York (SUNY) currently has presence in two Russian cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Moscow
The office in Moscow is located in the main building at Moscow State University and was created as a result of the close relationship between SUNY and Moscow State University that goes back to the mid 1970s, when the State University of New York's University at Albany campus began the first direct academic relationship with a Soviet university. For questions and information regarding SUNY office in Moscow, please contact the Office of International Programs at (518) 320 1410. St. Petersburg
The SUNY Stony Brook-St. Petersburg University Center, a joint Center for international programs and interdisciplinary studies on the campus of St. Petersburg State University, was founded by Prof. John F. Bailyn (Stony Brook University) and Anna A Maslennikova (St. Petersburg State University) in 2006. The Center serves as an umbrella for departments and programs from anywhere in SUNY and St. Petersburg University systems to develop their own joint initiatives, organize conferences, faculty exchanges, cross-cultural forums and other initiatives. This Center is jointly sponsored and co-administered by Stony Brook University, St. Petersburg State University, and the State University of New York.
