Haiti: Next steps

• Proposal to establish a tuition fund to provide for education to Haitian students, at resident tuition rates, to begin coming to SUNY in fall 2010.

• Develop a co-funding arrangement with the OAS for students coming from Haiti.

• Work with SUNY institutions and the OAS to establish procedures for dissemination of information, recruitment, selection, counseling and visa procedures for Haitian applicants.   [OAS Haiti relief web site] [OAS scholarships web site]

• Work with the OAS to define a model for virtual learning centers in Haiti, which will draw upon the distance learning offerings of a consortium of universities from OAS member countries.
